- Optimize the individual pack and master carton together; an attractive retail box alone does not protect your freight cost.
- Specify carton quantity, gross weight, CBM and pallet pattern before booking a forwarder.
- Build FNSKU, country-of-origin marks and handling labels into the approved packaging artwork—not after printing.
Why carton cube is a margin-control lever
For high-velocity tablet SKUs, sea freight and fulfillment handling can become the largest cost variables after the product bill of materials. A few millimeters of unnecessary packaging thickness multiplies across every inner box, master carton and container load.
The goal is not simply the smallest box. A well-engineered pack balances display protection, retail shelf appearance, drop resistance and efficient pallet utilization. Start with the product's true dimensions, stylus retention method and the type of retail presentation your channel requires.
Plan the master carton before the artwork is final
A reliable factory quotation should identify the individual package size, units per carton, outer carton dimensions, gross weight and CBM. Compare those values across proposed models and packaging formats before choosing the SKU mix for a container or FBA shipment.
- Confirm divider or tray protection for the screen surface and stylus so cosmetic defects do not rise in transit.
- Use a carton count that supports manageable gross weight and efficient handling at the destination warehouse.
- Reserve artwork zones for FNSKU, country-of-origin information, suffocation warnings where applicable and carton shipping marks.
Create a clean handoff to your forwarder and FBA prep team
Before booking, provide the forwarder with the approved carton specification, pickup date window and pallet assumptions. Before shipment, ask the factory for carton photos and an outbound count sheet. This simple handoff reduces wrong-label and wrong-carton issues that can disrupt a launch at the fulfillment center.
